For you poor, Greek-challenged people out there, it says that there is going to be a 40K tournament on the 25th of September, 1750 points and there's 32 places for it. That's as big as it gets for Greece so this is shaping up to be a major event. I've enquired them for what the missions and the terrain is going to be like but I haven't got an answer yet. I am guessing it's going to be the usual stuff though.  I'd like to go there but I am not sure which army I should take. My options are:

Imperial Guard

Pros: I've done better with my IG than any other army I got. Still very competitive.

Cons: Lots of painting needs to be done before I can field them. Have grown a bit rusty since I haven't used them for a while. Will be hard to transport. My games going to take longer time and maybe I won't be able to finish some of them.

Blood Angels

Pros: I've been using them a lot lately. Easy to transport and used for some fun, quick games. Some painting to be done but not as much as IG.

Cons: I did REALLY badly with them in the past. This is a different list but how much difference can it make?

Da Orks

Big Mek, Kustom Force Field

Warboss, Cybork Body, Attack Squig, Power Klaw, Warbike

3 x 5 Lootas

2 x 20 Ork Boyz, Nob (Bosspole, Power Klaw)

10 Gretchin, Runtherd

19 Ork Boyz, Nob (Bosspole, Power Klaw)

Nob Bikers, Big Choppa, Power Klaw, Waaagh! Banner, Boss Pole, Paiboy

Warbuggy, Twin-linked Rokkit Launcha

3 x Battlewagon, Boarding Plank, Grabbin' Klaw, Red Paint Job, Armour Plates, Deff Rolla,Big Shoota

Pros: I've done pretty good with Orks in past "big" tournaments. Most experience with them than any other army. Not much to paint to have them ready.

Cons: Bit rusty playing them. Older codex with obvious problems.

So these are my options at the moment. Help me out people. What do you think it's the best army to bring to the tournament. Not looking for list tweaking at the moment, just what to choose from those three. Or I could just go with Necrons and have a laugh! Cheers!

  1. Hey man,
well having played you in the past, in the "top round" of the big tournament i can tell you that, youre orc list is competitive, seeing that u have changed some things in it. Its a solid all rounder (unless you keep rolling 1's to pass terrain (with rerolls none the less , lol). The blood angels are also competitive but you dnt really see them doing well all too often in comparison to other new codices. As far as IG goes, well it sounds like a pain in the ass for any army, jst keep em safe and out of assault range :)

Id say go for Orcs if youre going for a win, and blood angels if ur going to jst have fun!

  2. Cheers matey. So you like the new orK list better than the one I played you with (4 BW + Thraka)? I think it's a bit more versatile myshelf. And also, will you attend this tournament?

  3. I like the blood angels list but I would seriously only take squads of five because you want to make sure everyone has feel no pain coverage. With that being said, spend those points on some more assault marines or vanguard vets to mess something up.

But if you aren't going to change your list, then go guard. Guard in my opinion has the best best chance out of the three listed even though it is a pain to transport.

  4. You mean take 2 x 5 assault marines? That's a bit think, don't you think? What's difference in 5 or 10 man squads for the FnP bubble?

    Guard, eh? Mmmmm...

  5. take your best painted army and models.Your models are fantastic. If you dont feel so competitive go for the 'best painted' award

  6. Thanks for the suggestion but the problem is that none of my armies is painted completely to the standards you see in this blog. If I had to paint my BA for example for this tournament I couldn't get pass the basecoat in 25 short days.

  7. Bring the Blood Angels so that we can have a chance to beat you!

  8. Ah, damn you, that's not the point! It's going to be the new and improved Blood Angels though.
