Necron List

This is the list I am thinking for 1750 points:

Overlord, Warscythe...100

Overlord, Warscythe...100

Cryptek, HoD, Solar Pulse...55

Catacomb Command Barge...80

Catacomb Command Barge...80

Triarch Stalker...150

Triarch Stalker...150

Triarch Stalker...150

5 Necron Warriors, Night Scythe...165

5 Necron Warriors, Night Scythe...165

4 Scarab Swarms...60

4 Scarab Swarms...60

Annihilation Barge...90

Annihilation Barge...90

Annihilation Barge...90

This is generally the kind of lists I am comfortable playing with. A lot of redundancy, no deathstars (they make me nervous) and symmetry. The list includes:

8 AV13 (quantum shielding) open topped vehicles
3 AV11 vehicles
36 S7 Twin Linked Tesla shots at 24''
10 S6 Tesla shots at 24''
6 Multimelta shots

There is also Cryptek's weapon (S8 36''), 15 Glauss Flayers (3-4 glancing hits in rapidfire range) and of course the Overlord's and Scarab's close combat attack for anti-tank. Most of the above double up nicely for anti infantry as well.

There are many elements that make the list work in my opinion. Actually a bit too many so I will explain them in later posts.

  1. I don't have the feeling that you are making the most of the triarch stalker because all your shooting is already TL or so.
I've tried triarch stalker with 3 units of 10 immortals, the result was fairly impressive.

  2. Hey Buddy, interesting list. Im rly looking forward to readng the codex as soon as i see 1 :P but it seems that list like this dsnt seem to have alot of ap2/1... so my question is, dare you take on the DEATHWING? :D

  3. The only I would do differently is increase the size of the Warrior squads. Could reduce it to three squads if need be but it'll make them a bit more survivable. Other than that really like it. That's just what I would do but I'd really like to hear how it goes for you. c

  4. you got like 15guys for troops total?!!! -.-
auto lose in 2 of 3 missions

tesla is AP- so -1 on dmg tabel
it will only be good vs ligh stuff with no armour
    bad vs SMs & tanks

so you might as well just take more crons that do the same shooting & can claim stuff

or do you want to reserv & supersonic move youre cron squads around all game so you don´t lose them?

Lol, tell that to the people who run razorwolves. That's TOTALLY a terribly concept :P

Though I too am worried about only having 3 troops.

Do you plan on keeping the immortals in the Scythes? 'Cause one thing that might be a problem is someone waiting until T3-4, popping the Night Scythes, and letting the scoring units walk...

  7. Cheers for the suggestion everyone. I will elaborate more on how I think this list (and Necrons in general) work with some more posts (hint: Warriors are pretty safe inside the Night Scythes).

@Alex: Dude, AP1+AP2 is wasted on Deathwing anyway since they are going to be soaked up by Storm Shields. Better make you roll 50 armour saves a turn and laught at your face when you roll "1"'s!

  8. You've gone very shooty with your army. What happens when the enemy charge? You may remember I put wraiths or triarch praetorians behind some Necron units to jump over the combat and charge into the enemy from behind.

I do feel you need some anti-combat units. My advice being the wraiths. Even those Deathwing will be reduced to I1 and will be hit with rending attacks.

Other than that, this army should be deadly at range. Just make sure to shoot with the triarchs before any other shooting.
